my
childhood was spent off-balance
and there's no place to go back to now
that i can really call home, but i do get
a nice settled feeling when i visit my
in-laws in ohio. been coming here since
1999, long enough to where it feels
like
my whole life. speaking of nativity, sarah
and i are slowly working, by request, on
making her mom a replacement crèche.
we're carving it out of yellow cedar, so
soft and fragrant. i'm still trying to get
the hang of it, but sarah made it easy--
all i have to do is stay within the lines.
