this fence was a relic of someone's
ingenuity. with nails, washers, and conduit
hangers, they improvised a louvered picket
system that could open or close as needed--as if
opening and closing like blinds is something a
fence needs to do. in its prime it must've been
neat, but i never saw it in functional
condition--and i've been working at this house
on and off for 20
years. today it finally had to
come down, to be replaced by a simpler
design. i was stoked to haul away the painted
cedar boards. some are rotted clear through but
i plan to plane and rip the good ones to use as
trim throughout in tahuya.
