when i
volunteered to help with this
installation, i didn't expect any form of
compensation, but cathi schwalbe has been
generous in keeping us calorically fortified, so
this detour has doubled as a tour of the local
restaurant scene, starting with a hip pub in reedsburg
whose name included both ampersand & pun.
following day, breakfast at the type of diner that has
all but disappeared from seattle; then dinner at
schellter bar & grill (old skool ampersand!).
for our last day we made do with the hotel pancake robot, grazed on trailmix for lunch as we put finishing touches of spirit of jaedike, then descended into the 9th circle of dells, where this joint's food was acceptable but what really stood out were the bucket-sized margaritas, which would have tempted old drinking me. from there a short walk to the perfectly preserved period amtrak station, where we boarded the train to minneapolis and the party continued... |
