after toiling in above average heat to cover a barn all day, cathi took us to schellter bar and grill in nearby north freedom, wisconsin, with baseball on the tv, snowmobile and hunting flyers on the bulletin board, and the appetizingly named outhouse burger on the menu--which was pretty tasty, actually. Farm/Art DTour is fueled by a network of participating farms, and after dinner we went to a bonfire at scott sprecher's place, where this big barn, illuminated from within and bleeding light through its seams, plays host to scores of feral cats as well as eccentric houseguests using its spacious interior to experiment with large scale art projects. our cats come from a midwest barn and i wanted so badly to add these sweeties to the family. in what might be a case of psychological projection, i've always had a soft spot for the vulnerable. |
