"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world, and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." - ~E. B. White

"If a person says they can or can't do something, they're likely right."
                                                                      ~John Snyder

Cars
isolate. Cars pollute. Cars kill. We believe that through events, education, and organizing, we can change the direction of cities in the 21st century and move them away from car-centric planning (roadway expansion and parking garages) and towards urban redevelopment on a human scale (green space and bike lanes). The car-free movement aims to decrease automobile dependency by lobbying for better mass transit, improving alternative transportation options, and encouraging people to modify their car use habits. To succeed, the car-free movement needs YOU. Use the resources on this Website to introduce car-free events to your community. Help us make cars obsolete.

How Can You Help?

We need volunteers to distribute flyers, show up at events, and generally pitch in when the opportunity arises.

"Let 'em ride a bike like me, would do me and them and everybody a world of good. Cleanse our city's air, reinvigorate the blood, tone up the muscles, strengthen the heart, burn up that surplus fat, stave off arteriosclerosis, cut down on bypass operations, eliminate transplants, lower the cholesterol count, prolong lives. Yes, and reduce oil consumption, slow down the waste of steel and rubber and copper and glass, free human labor and engineering skills for important work -- anything bad for the auto industry and bad for the oil industry is bound to be good for America, good for human beings, good for the land." -- Edward Abbey
