tonight lynn and i chanced
upon the local czechoslovak society (73rd b/t
1st and 2nd) where ten or so people played 2
guitars and sang old czech songs as well as pink
floyd, john denver, and the doors. after that it
was off to nimrod (70th b/t york and 1st), a
german-czech restaurant with a very friendly and
funny crowd. a blonde chanteuse banged on an
upright piano wailing the blues then slipped
into an accordion and serenaded us with edith
piaf in the close smoky room. je ne regrette
rien.
