I started
Picture of the Day 9 years ago today. A few
weeks ago, I applied to
Gallery4Culture
to host a 10-year PoD restrospective in February 2008 (the screenshots above
were part of the proposal). I am still waiting to hear back from them.
If they don't go for it, it will happen elsewhere. I'll be printing out as
much of the website as will fit on the walls, setting up a computer station
where the entire site can be viewed live, and projecting a vast onslaught
of film shorts. All this will coincide with the release of a
Picture of the Day "best of" book which will reproduce select pages and include
a CD of the entire first decade of PoD as well as a sampler DVD of
short films. Search for a publisher starts today.
If that doesn't pan out, it will be self-published as an ultralimited special
edition. To help with the selection process, I invite you to
write me with a link to your favorite page.
I'm also offering archival printouts of individual pages. These will be signed,
numbered, authenticated, and suitable for framing at $50 each. If that's
too steep but you'd still like to support this site, please
donate here. And for all of you who have asked
for more interactivity around PoD, you can now play at
myspace.com/pictureoftheday. |
